From MSI Blog | By Rick Kuo | July 14, 2021
In June, Microsoft launched the latest operating system Windows 11. The official website announced a beautiful GUI design and functions for multitasking. There are several limitations that you need to be aware of before upgrading. Previously, MSI announced the list of desktop systems that can support Windows 11 so you don’t need to worry about the hardware.
How can we know if your hardware system can run Windows 11 or not? There are several settings you need to confirm first before you can upgrade to Windows 11.
1. Make sure your BIOS setting is correct. In general, those set things are already enabled in default BIOS. However, some users might have changed it so we suggest checking it again.
Secure Boot: Enable; Security Device Support: Enable; TPM Devices Selection: PTT.
To boot in UEFI(BIOS) Page, Click Security.
Check the item setup at enable as shown below.
Security\Trusted Computing > Security Device Support > Enable.
TPM Device Selection: PTT.
And set up secure boot at enabling as shown below.
Security\Secure Boot > Secure Boot > Enable.
Then press the “F10” key to save changes and reboot the system.
If your system model is Pro or Creator series, the UEFI (BIOS) GUI will be different. You can follow the picture below to check if the status of the item is set up correctly or not.
Security\Trusted Computing > Security Device Support > Enable.
TPM Device Selection: PTT.
Security\Secure Boot > Secure Boot > Enable.
Note: Some models’ function locations could be different, you can refer to the path and picture below to find it.
Security\Trusted Computing -> Security Device Support > Enable.
AMD fTPM switch -> AMD CPU fTPM.
Advanced\Windows OS Configuration\Secure Boot > Secure Boot > Enable.
Secure Boot > Enable.
2. Confirm the TPM version in Windows.
Boot into windows, then press “Windows” key + “R” key then type “tpm.msc” to call the “Trusted Platform Module (TPM) Management” window. And confirm the TPM version.
After you confirm the settings and version above, your system is available to upgrade to Windows 11.We will release Windows 11 driver and MSI application shortly after Microsoft Windows 11’s formal release.
